My Scrapbook

~ teddies love to scrapbook too ~

I've kept a scrapbook ever since I was a little girl. Over the years it's become more of a "scrapbox" filled with baby shoes, locks of hair, cards, and mementos that mean the world to me. I've also saved little clips of verses, stories, and poems that made me smile or moved me in some way. I thought I'd share some of them with you along with some of the things that have become part of my "cyber scrapbook", graphics and animations that I have saved with the hope of finding a home for them somewhere on my pages.

          bet you can't catch me!

Teddy bears, rattles and alphabet blocks,
Powder and pull toys, tiny white socks,
          Lullabies, laughter, contentment and love,
These are the things that a baby's made of.

can you come out and play?

          Beauty of rich coloring,
          Shades of every hue,
          But the loveliest
Of all the shades is blue.

          Blue is the color
          Of an April sky,
          Blue is the twilight
          Going softly by.

          Blue is the lake water
          Lapping the shore,
          And the delicate bluebirds
          That flutter and soar.

          In blue flame of color
          Asters run wild,
          And blue -innocently blue-
Are the eyes of a child.

          Why do I write?
          I write because
          I see something
          or smell something
          or feel something
          that I can not understand
until I try to describe it
          in written words...

Love puts the music in laughter,
          the beauty in song,
          the warmth in a shoulder,
          the gentle in strong...

Love puts the magic in memories,
          the sunshine in skies,
          the gladness in giving,
          the starlight in eyes...

Love puts the fun in together,
          the sad in apart,
          the hope in tomorrow,
          the joy in a heart

          She stands by me,
          this child of three,
          Holding out a picture book,
          Her eyes in upward,
          pleading look.

          I think of pressing
          tasks of the day,
          Of waiting things
          of near demand,
          Yet swiftly reach
          for her small hand,
          And go with her
          to Fairyland.

          A Mother's Prayer

Give me patience when little hands,
Tug at me with ceasless demands,
Give me gentle words and smiling eyes,
And keep my lips from hasty, sharp replies,
That when in years to come,
          My house is still,
          Beautiful memories,
          It's rooms may fill.
